The combination of Justine Blanchet’s music and Emma-Lee’s photos were perfect for a vintage pulp novel treatment. The strong women in Justine’s songs reminded me of alluring and mysterious dime store novel characters. The art direction of Emma-Lee’s photography allowed me to create this aesthetic in each of the singles, uniting them thematically. In each, the typography mimics actual pulp novels. I paired a bold tall title with a more decorative font to keep the single covers striking and yet still feminine. The inside of the album package included custom vintage ads created for each song. That artwork saw additional life as it was carried into Justine’s social profiles, as a track by track reveal series.
